Ka-Bar: A Global Reference in Knives and Folding Blades<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Ka-Bar manufactures high-quality knives and folding blades<\/strong>, and to this day, it remains widely sold due to its reputation as the knife of the Marines. This is how it is known worldwide. Primarily manufactured in the United States, Ka-Bar guarantees excellence and is one of the most prestigious and well-known knife brands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Brand with a Long History<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Union Cutlery began using the Ka-Bar name on its knives in 1923 after receiving a letter from a trapper who described how he had killed a wounded bear with a Union Cutlery knife when his rifle jammed. The letter was only partially legible, but one of the readable fragments included the phrase \u201ckilled a bear.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the entry of the United States into World War II, the military sought a reliable and cost-effective knife. In collaboration with Camillus Cutlery, the U.S. Navy developed the US Navy Utility Knife.<\/strong> The Marines adopted it on November 23, 1942,<\/strong> and redesigned it as the USMC Mark 2 Combat Knife.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alongside Camillus, other companies, including Union Cutlery, manufactured the same knife. By 1944, Marines began referring to their knives as Ka-Bar<\/strong>, regardless of the manufacturer.<\/p>\n

In 1952, Union Cutlery officially changed its company name to Ka-Bar Cutlery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ka-Bar: Past and Present<\/strong><\/h3>\n
